For HCPs

Letairis (ambrisentan) is a prescription medicine used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), which is high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs.

Dealing with the diagnosis

A PAH diagnosis can potentially be overwhelming for a patient. It may have taken a long time to get the diagnosis, and then there were new challenges to face. There are many places people with PAH can go for support: friends and family, a PAH doctor, support groups, pulmonary hypertension foundations, and even websites like Letairis.com.

“When I was first diagnosed with PAH, I was very overwhelmed. It was a scary time for me. I felt alone and isolated.”

Many people with PAH try to take an active role in their treatment decisions. They educate themselves about PAH and treatment options so they can be as informed as possible when they are prescribed a medication.

“My advice I would offer to patients that are newly diagnosed with PAH is you have to absolutely be your own advocate. Only you know how you feel…so be sure to talk to your healthcare provider to help find what’s best for you.”

“My husband, Stan, started doing research on ERA [endothelin receptor antagonist] therapy, and that’s when he discovered Letairis.”

Stan: “We consulted the doctor to see if he thought that would be a beneficial medicine.”
